August Expenses 2020

 Hello, everyone!

July Expenses 2020

Hello, everyone!

I am Jerry, the author of this blog!

The second and third wave of virus is still on-going. My company allows me to work from home 4 days/ week. I only need to go to office once a week.

Anyways, here comes the expenses of July:

Money for my family and GF: $17444.4

Food& Beverages: $532

I didn't spend any money on entertainments or games this month. Well done, Jerry! Yet, I paid for the dinner of my family gathering which cost me around $2000. I think this money is well spent. Everyone, especially my grandma, was happy that night. Other expenses were low because I stayed at home most of the time this month.

June Expenses 2020

 Hello, everyone!

I am Jerry, the author of this blog!

Here comes the expenses of June:

Money for my family and GF: $17444.4

Food& Beverages: $1623

Transportation: $397.7

Phone: $116

Clothes: $59

iPhone (1/12 installments): $283.25

Miscellaneous: $789.49

TOTAL: $20712.84

I tried hard to keep my expenses as low as possible. The largest spending is still the financial support to my family and girlfriend. I cannot cut this part as I treasure them as much as I treasure myself. The only redundant part is those spending related mobile games which cost me around $160.

May Expenses 2020

Hello, everyone!

I am Jerry, the author of this blog!

The virus is still here but there are less and less new cases around the globe.

Anyways, here comes the expenses of May:

Money for my family and GF: $22444.4

Food& Beverages: $1122.6

Transportation: $340.8

Entertainments: $96

Phone: $116

Clothes: $158

iPhone (1/12 installments): $283.25

Miscellaneous: $188

TOTAL: $24749.05

The money I spent is much more than before. Because of the pandemic, my family and GF's finance has some changes so I decided to provide some financial helps to them. Other expenses are well controlled. The iPhone and the clothes are the birthday gift I bought myself. These things contribute to a better QoL. My old iPhone was somewhat broken and my clothes were worn out to some degree.

March Expenses 2020

Hello, everyone!

I am Jerry, the author of this blog!

CONVID-19 is causing a worldwide problem. The economy outlook is gloomy now.

Anyways, here comes the expenses of March:

Money for my family and GF: $11333.3

Food& Beverages: $417

Phone: $116

Personal growth: $263.25

February Expenses 2020

Hello, everyone!

I am Jerry, the author of this blog!

CONVID-19 has made the world in turmoil. My company allows me to work at home which becomes a de-facto holiday because my job requires more hand-on work with my client instead of paper work.

Anyways, here comes the expenses of February:

Money for my family and GF: $11333.33

Food& Beverages: $221.5

Transportation: $400.13

Phone: $116

Personal growth: $101.68

Miscellaneous: $1190

TOTAL: $13362.64

I spent on around 30% of my income this month so I can make up for the "loss" last month. Yet, I think this is the minimum amount I need for my living. I really want to explore another income source no matter it is a part-time job or a side business, but I am still thinking about it.

Next month, regardless of the virus situation, work will start resuming gradually, but the spending should be similar with this month as there will not be few or even zero entertainments!

January Expenses 2020

Hello, everyone!

I am Jerry, the author of this blog!

Many things happened in the first month of 2020. I went to Thailand to find my girlfriend and I had a big quarrel with her. Then she came to HK with me and we had another quarrel. Thanks God, everything is okay now.

Anyways, here comes the expenses of January:

Money for my family and GF: $11333.33

Food& Beverages: $2469.7

Entertainments: $6283.48

Transportation: $764.2

Phone: $187

Miscellaneous: $9660.95

TOTAL: $30698.66
Wow! I spent a lot this month. More than 75% of my income. The largest part was spent on my GF. She had some financial issues so I decided to help her out. Since she came to HK with me, we spent a lot of time together- eating out and going around. Besides, some money was spent on some medical consumables including masks and hand sanitizers because HK is facing an epidemic! I hope the virus will go soon and my expense next month will go down again.

December Expenses 2019

Hello, everyone!

I am Jerry, the author of this blog!

In order to make things more precise and simple, I will stop explaining every category. I will comment everything in the last paragraph instead.

Anyways, here comes the expenses of December:

Money for my family: $5500

Food& Beverages: $1249

Entertainments: $7691.54

Transportation: $350.9

Phone: $116

Miscellaneous: $973

TOTAL: $15880.44
To be honest, I spent so little this month. I went to travel once. This explains why my entertainment category went up so high. Besides, I saw doctor once and spent some money on self-improvements.
All in all, I managed to keep my expenses below 50% of my income. Good news for me!

November Expenses 2019

Hello, everyone!

I am Jerry, the author of this blog!

We never know what life prepares for us. While Hong Kong situation did not improve, I did not commit myself to the movement as much as my friend did. Out of loneliness, I met few girls through networking app and started dating one of them.

Anyways, here comes the expenses of November:

Money for my family: $7500
I gave $5500 to my parents every month. This is a tradition of Hong Kong people.

Food& Beverages: $1804
I ate out a lot as I asked some girls out for dinner and lunch. Besides, the two reasons from last month were still valid this month.

Entertainments: $4068.5
This is really crazy. This expenses include the swimming pool admission fees, online shopping and all the funs I have with the newly met girls.

Transportation: $385.2
This is about my average. Yet, the actual amount will be less since the HK government is now subsidising our transportation fee for around few dollars per month depending on your amount.

Phone: $116
This is the phone bill.

Clothes: $1202.7
I bought two new shirt from ASOS since my old shirts were worn out.

Household: $1380
I bought a new filter for my family's water purifier and some other household products.

Miscellaneous: $986
I saw doctor because I caught a cold. This also included some random things.

TOTAL: $15442.4
The expenses went up quite a bit this month because I went out a lot. To be honest, some money was not well spent. This month taught me a lesson: money could go really fast if I socialize a lot. However, the number is still acceptable. I could still save more than 50% of my salary. Next month will be the last month of 2019 and I will have a trip with a friend. Let's see how much I will spend in the month of festivals.

October Expenses 2019

Hello, everyone!

I am Jerry, the author of this blog!

I broke up with my girlfriend this month. I was so depressed that I barely function daily. This is the reason why I published no posts in October.

Anyways, here comes the expenses of October:

Money for my family: $5500
I gave $5500 to my parents every month. This is a common tradition of Hong Kong people.

Food& Beverages: $1944.3
I spent more on my daily lunch because of two reasons: First, cheap restaurants are no longer a choice to me. I chose to support the social movements by applying my rights of consumer, i.e. eating lunch in restaurant which supports the movements. Second, food became a comfort to me during my break up with my girlfriend. I ate some a little bit expensive lunches.

Entertainments: $969
This included the swimming pool admission fees, some games I bought online and some toys I bought.

Transportation: $440.9
This is about my average. Yet, the actual amount will be less since the HK government is now subsidising our transportation fee for around few dollars per month depending on your amount.

Phone: $116
This is the phone bill.

Haircut: $70
Cheap haircut.

Miscellaneous: $351
I bought some books for personal growth.

TOTAL: $9391.2
This is quite surprising to me because the whole expense is under 10k even though I spent a lot on my food. This might be due to the "power" of being single. I hope I can keep my expense low for the last two months of 2019 so that I could be reach my financial goal this year!

September Expenses 2019

Hello, everyone!

I am Jerry, the author of this blog!

Hong Kong is still in disturbance but I chose to restart blogging. It doesn't mean I don't care about the movement. In fact, I see this as an alternative perspective of history.

Anyways, here comes the expenses of September:

Money for my family: $7500
I gave $5500 to my parents and $2000 to my girlfriend every month. Besides, I bought my mum a pair of new shoes as her birthday gift.

Food& Beverages: $885.9
I ate out a few times this month.

Entertainments: $8648.77
I travelled to Bangkok alone for three days because I was so stressed out. Movements in HK. New Job. Family issues. These are the reasons why I chose to escape for a few days.

Transportation: $396.8
This is about my average. Yet, the actual amount will be less since the HK government is now subsidising our transportation fee for around few dollars per month depending on your amount.

Phone: $116
This is the phone bill.

Haircut: $70
Cheap haircut.

Education: $648
I started learning a new language- Viet! It's because I want to learn more about my girlfriend's language and culture.

Miscellaneous: $0
I didn't mark any miscellaneous spending. Not sure if there is really none or I forgot to mark down haha.

TOTAL: $18984.07
The expenses went up quite a bit this month because I travelled to Bangkok. Yet, I knew I needed a few days escaping from reality. I was really stressed and even depressed, but I am okay now. I really want to thank myself for arranging this trip. Let's see if I could save more next month.

What about you? How much did you spend in September? Please let me know by commenting below! See you next time!

As I have mentioned in my last blog, Hong Kong is undergoing a huge incident so I did not update my blog as usual.

Anyways, here comes the expenses of August:

Money for my family: $7500
I gave $5500 to my parents every month. Since June, I also started giving $2000 to my girlfriend to support her living.

Food& Beverages: $1197.8
I ate out a few times this month.

Entertainments: $831.8
I bought some games and in-app purchases.

This is about my average. Yet, the actual amount will be less since the HK government is now subsidising our transportation fee for around few dollars per month depending on your amount.

Phone: $116
This is the phone bill.

Haircut: $0
I didn't do my haircut this month. Too busy(or lazy).

Miscellaneous: $629.9
I bought a new bag for work and a new umbrella.

TOTAL: $10672.3
I discovered some loophole in my spending summary. I didn't record some one-off expenses such as course fee, insurance and professional memberships. I am too lazy to track them back but I will definitely include them in my coming summary.

What about you? How much did you spend in August? Please let me know by commenting below! See you next time!

July Expenses 2019

Hello, everyone!

I am Jerry, the author of this blog!

It has been a long time since my last update. Too many things happened in Hong Kong for the past few months and I was not in the mood of blogging so I delayed the updates.

Anyways, here comes the expenses of July:

Money for my family: $7500
I gave $5500 to my parents every month. Since last month, I also started giving $2000 to my girlfriend to support her living.

Food& Beverages: $940.3
Not bad. Less than that of last month.

Entertainments: $1471.8
Far less than that of last month because I didn't go travel. Yet, I still bought some games and in-app purchases.

Transportation: $408.6
This is about my average. Yet, the actual amount will be less since the HK government is now subsidising our transportation fee for around few dollars per month depending on your amount.

Phone: $116
This is the phone bill.

Haircut: $70

Miscellaneous: $1354.19
This included some supplements and small things I bought for daily use.

TOTAL: $11860.89
Overall, I spent far less this month, mainly because I didn't go travelling. Yet, my income became less than usual this month because I switched to a new job and there were few days of break. After all, I am satisfied with my spending this month. It is within my expectation.

What about you? How much did you spend in July? Please let me know by commenting below! See you next time!
